CT Contrast Guidelines

BUN & Creatinine levels are required for anyone over 60 years of age receiving contrast administration. Additionally, any patient that has a history of diabetes or kidney failure.

We require pre-medication for anyone who has a severe food or drug allergy (ex. throat closure or past hospitalization), anyone with severe asthma, or anyone who has had a previous reaction to contrast.

Patients taking certain diabetes medications will be asked to stop the medications 24 hours prior and must remain off of them for 48 hours after.
