FAQS Regarding Your Radiology Visit
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most insurance plans. To ensure that your insurance plan is accepted at our centers, please call (631) 265-9645 and one of our staff members will be happy to assist you.
Do you accept payment plans?
Yes, we are willing to work with you if you have financial need. Please contact one of our staff members at (631) 265-9645. In cases of financial hardship, we will consider payment arrangements. Please contact the appropriate BAB office with any questions you may have.
Why do I need to arrive before my actual appointment time?
We need time to review your paperwork and prepare you for your examination.
My child is having an examination. Will I be able to stay with him / her during the test?
If your child is under 5, or is unable to go into the examination room by him or herself, we will allow you or a family member to accompany them. The law requires that this family member not be a woman of child-bearing age.
Who will perform my exam?
All exams are performed by a highly trained technologists or physicians. Some procedures such as fluoroscopy and certain ultrasound procedures are performed by a Radiologist. For more specific information select an exam from the menu bar.
When will I receive my test results?
A board certified radiologist will interpret your case. Your physician will be notified of your results usually within 24-48 hours of your examination. In the event that your case is a medical emergency we will notify your physician immediately with your results.
Is it important for a radiologist to interpret my exam and not my personal physician?
Yes it is. A radiologist has been trained in diagnostic radiology. Many of our radiologists have done additional fellowships (sub-specialty training) in such areas as neuroradiology (nervous system), angiography (blood vessels), orthopedics (bones) and many other areas. Our radiologists are board certified by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This certification means that you are being evaluated by the very best doctors available, like the physicians at BAB Radiology.
Is there a private area for me to leave my valuables and change into the gown?
Yes there is. Our changing rooms are clean, comfortable and private. Personal belongings are taken in the exam room. Some of our offices have lockers with keys that allow you to leave your valuables safely in the dressing rooms.
Will my mammogram be painful?
Usually not. However, some women have sensitive breasts and it can seem uncomfortable. It is necessary to compress the breast tissue to fully evaluate your breast. Please see our Women’s Corner page for more information regarding your Mammography Exam.
What does it mean if I am called back for additional pictures at a later date?
Occasionally, the radiologist will request additional inaging views. In most cases, there is nothing to be concerned about. Occasionally, additional images are required to fully evaluate your study.
Why do you need all of my prior films?
The radiologist needs to see how your current films compare with old ones. This helps to identify subtle changes that may have occurred since your last examination.
